About Flying Moon Farm

We’re Reimagining a Local Food System Rooted in Care & Connection

A woman in a beige top, wide-brimmed hat, and gardening gloves standing among flowers, with a horse, a cartoonish smiling sun, a dragonfly, and a bee in a bright, whimsical scene.

A daughter-mother duo and a motley crew of big-hearted four-leggeds rooted in Beckwith — just outside Carleton Place — growing food and community in the heart of Lanark County.

We grow well-tended mischief and dirt-loving rebellion while learning what it means to nourish community — humbly and wholeheartedly — in a living ecosystem.

A playful collage featuring a woman with sunglasses, a young lamb, a brown horse with a flowing mane, flying birds, and fairy-like creatures, surrounded by colorful flowers and greenery on a light yellow background.

Hand-Harvested Herbs, Small-Batch Goods, and Pay-What-You-Can Vegetables

From composting soil enriched by our horses, cows and sheep, to harvesting everything by hand without pesticides or synthetic chemicals, we tend this land and all her beings with intention.

Based in the Ottawa Valley, our farm blends small-batch growing, equitable access to organic food, and community-rooted gatherings.

What Our Community Is Saying

  • “There is a magic at the farm and the land that draws you into the present moment and out of your head in a very short period of time. The stress, anxiety, pressures of day to day life fall away as you connect with the land and the herd.”

    ~ Jen

  • “Lia provided a welcoming space. We learned about the history of the land as well as how they care for it and their animals. It was a wonderful experience to learn the full circle of processing wool while making the felted soap next to the sheep.”

    ~ Zara

  • "Loved this crafting experience, it was so nice to connect with the animals and enjoy the scenery!"

    ~ Paislee

  • “Seeing the joy on my son’s face as he tried different fresh tomatoes was pure magic for me too (and a bit shocking - totally thought he’d go for the maple buns!).”

    ~ Ben’s mom

  • "Amazing workshop to learn something new while having a little getaway. Flying Moon Farm is so peaceful and Lia is such a lovely host!"

    ~ Ash

  • “Flying Moon Farm is a beautiful, serene place to immerse yourself in presence and self expansion. You will love your time there.”

    ~ Vanessa

  • “Flying Moon Farm’s PWYC vegetables are not just about fresh, organic food (which I love), the program is also about dignity and wellbeing for everyone.”

    ~ Sam

Opening day May 16, 2026

10am to 1pm

As the gardens start sprouting, we start this spring with our delicious focaccia bread, herbal teas, felted soaps.

Share the stories. Join our Blog.

An invitation to playful mayhem and an exploration of what it means to compost the conditioning of empire and reimagine a culture rooted in care, community and a regenerative relationship between humans, more-than-humans, and the land. We offer no solutions or “how to” advice (we’re experimenting as much as the next person) … just a no AI, straight from the heart chance to share in what we’re doing to make a difference in these times of great collapse and the mystery, sorrow and awe we encounter along the way.

Explore our Substack, For What Still Grows, and find a community of other dirt-loving folks trying to figure out how to give these end times everything we’ve got, for the sake of those to come and those on whose shoulders we stand.

For What Still Grows

Growing Local Ecologies Together

Our food systems are in trouble — deep trouble. We believe there’s still time to reimagine healthy, local food networks in the Ottawa Valley through small-scale farming, equitable access to organic food, and regenerative community.

We’re not alone.

Our Commitment

Our life and work are situated on the ancestral, unceded, and unsurrendered territories of the Omàmiwinini and Wendat nations whose relationship with the land is ancient, primary, and enduring.

This place we now call home was once alive with their language, ceremony, storytelling, teachings, and song. We affirm that our very capacity to be in this place, and to draw life from it - whether invited or not - depends in no small part upon generations of Omàmiwinini and Wendat peoples who ensured that these territories remained vibrant and nourishing for all life.

  • Our farm is located in Beckwith, just 10 minutes from Carleton Place in the Ottawa Valley. We host visitors at the farm and attend markets in Almonte and Ottawa. We’re proud to be part of the growing local food movement serving Lanark County and the Ottawa-Parkdale area.

  • No - we don’t allow drop-ins. However, we do provide up-to-date hours for the farm stand and the dates and times for our farm workshops and gatherings on our website. We also
provide dates and locations for the local markets we attend - we’d love to meet you and share stories.

  • Our pay-what-you-can (PWYC) model makes fresh, organic vegetables accessible to
everyone — from little ones with a quarter who want to munch on snap peas, to individuals with limited resources, to those with more to give. Everyone shops together in the same
space. It’s our way of fostering an equitable and joyful community around food.

  • While we grow our vegetables using biodynamic and organic practices, we at this time do hot have an official certification. Stay tuned - it can take a few years, but we are committed to only organic growing practices. No pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers (beyond our super compost!)

  • For the 2026 season you can find us at the Vodkow Market in Almonte and at the Parkdale Night Market in Ottawa. We also offer a workshop for Fibre Fest in Almonte in September
and attend festive markets in the late fall throughout Lanark County. Check our website home page for up-to-date market information.
